Hunter Ceiling Fan Installation Directions

Before you begin we want to make sure that everything your Hunter ceiling fan came with all of the necessary parts. It should include a fan motor, blades, mounting bracket, arms, nuts, screws, washers, and the fan itself. If the package did not come with all of these hunter ceiling fan parts than you need to return it and exchange it for a new one that has been properly packaged.

Some fans might come with an extra part known as a speed ring. This makes it assembling it easier by giving you the chance to put the blades together on the floor before you attach them to the motor. You will attach them to the motor only after the fan has been installed into the ceiling.

Make sure that the power in the room is turned off from the circuit breaker. After you have done this remove the original light fixture and disconnect it from the wiring. Next you will need to mount the electrical box till it is secure. It needs to be attached to a wood or metal frame. There are certain kits that you can purchase if you want additional support for it.

Attach the fan canopy to the motor housing by screwing the mounting ring into the appropriate place. Remove the old support bracket from the electrical box and place the new mounting bracket – screwing it into place. Hang the motor unit (already assembled) from the two hooks that can be found on the mounting bracket.

Reconnect the wires beginning with the ground, red wire. Move on to the white wires and than attack the black wires. After you have connected all of the wires place them inside the canopy where they will be out of sight.

Attach the ring (already assembled) to the motor unit using the rubber grommets and fasten the screw tightly. Attach the cover over the speed ring and install the decorative cover plate.
